3 projector immersive 180° system

Post by jauno » 22 Mar 2019, 21:08

Hello everybody.
I'am looking for support from or contact to german speaking cockpit builders which already realized a 180° 3 projector screen system. I am planning to build up a similar one. Who could give practical advices. Thank you all.
Greetings from France

Why don’t you open a topic in the german speaking part of this forum?

We can talk in german there if you wish...

Hi,
Your build looks fantastic. I am also thinking about building a 180 degree display. Some years ago I have used 3 24" displays, after my move I've tried the 1 projector (short throw made by Optoma) solution but I am really missing the feeling of immersion.
Can you share some more information about your build, please? What kind of material did you use for the screen? Is it a real "cinema screen" or did you use wood? I'd be happy if you could post some more pictures.
Thanks a lot.
Alex

Thanks I used 1/8 inch sheet of mdf from home depot, 3 48'' x 96'' sheets. On one side the sheet come with a white finish. The mounting post are 2x4s milled down to about 3", and the blocks holding the screen are just wood blocks with a 1/8' dado cut in to accept the screen. The adjustable feet for mounting post were purchased at Rockler woodworking...

Hi,
Please excuse my late reply. Thanks you for your additional information and pictures. The result looks really great.
Which projectors are you using? How satisfied are you with the Ovhd panels made by FlightSimulatorParts?
