correct potentiometer connection

Post by OE1CGA » 17 Jan 2020, 15:23

Hi,
i have a Leo Bodnar BU836X card and just like to clarify
the correct connection of potis...
On their website i can see how to connct a poti.

But when i check in the internet, i see how to wire a potentiometer
the right way and this looks different. You can see on the pic from Leo Bodnar
that the groundwire is on the right and from the "generic info" the
groundwire is on the left. What is the correct way to connect (a LB card).... ??

One pic is from LB website, the other from the internet "how to do"...

Hey there

It doesnt matter what side you use for ground or +5 volts. Only difference is that it will change in the way you turn the pot. For example, wire it one way turn pot clockwise will increase output, then if wired opposite way turn the pot clockwise will decrease the output. The most important wire is the signal. Hopefully this makes sense.

So wire it up then if you are like, oh I want the pot to be the opposite direction than what I have in going, just change your gnd and +5 volt wires.

Thanks

Ivan
